DuPont
Corian®
is one of the premier building materials in use today.
As an interior surfacing product, the design and
construction community as well as consumers are aware
that Corian®
work surfaces provide a unique combination of aesthetic
appeal and long-term value. What other surface is
seamless, renewable and tough?
So what else is new? Sterling
Surfaces and the design flexibility of Corian®!
With the value features inherent in Corian®
what completes the value picture is a company of master
fabricators coupled with designers and architects
willing to step out and explore the new design frontiers
possible with Corian®.
Sterling Surfaces believes that Corian®'s
full potential as a surfacing material has yet to be
fully explored. This belief has led Sterling to work
closely with designers such as Ann Grasso of A.E. Grasso-Spatial
Design Consultants and other custom builders and design
firms. Working in concert, these firms are yielding
applications that truly delight. And, they serve to
showcase the design potential, superior hygienic
aspects, and low-maintenance advantages of Corian®.
"Nowhere is this
more evident than in the bath, in its own right a
multifunctional living area. And what's new is how
Corian®
is utilized. Corian®
shower walls are no longer just boxed/ready-to-install
kits. With Sterling's advanced fabrication
techniques such as thermoforming and Corian®'s
partnership with accent materials such as tile borders,
artistic glass and stone elements, beautiful rooms are
being created," says Grant Garcia, managing
director.
The sleek whirlpool deck
curves with a full thermoformed apron that drops to meet
the coved ledge of the Corian®
shower pan. This Barrington RI, residence bath
demonstrates the results of Sterling Surfaces/A.E.
Grasso-Spatial
Design Consultants design/fabrication alliance.
The old standard for
shower basins, copper pans and mud/tile jobs is giving
way to monolithic heat-formed Corian®
shower pans. Clients value the ease of maintenance
Corian®
showers provide, as well as their aesthetic appeal.
Equally at home with any wet wall material including
Corian®
itself, Corian®
shower receptors are made in any number of popular
sizes.
Says Sterling Surfaces
Project Manager Kenneth Graves: "A.E. Grasso's
conceptual sketch became a reality as we conferred on
design/fabrication details. This Corian®
receptor and entry floor actually sits on the finished
floor of the room, nested into the face wall of the
whirlpool deck. The removable Corian®
grates are practical, yet very unique in shape and form.
Below them is the receptor with a thermoformed bottom
designed to drain."
